Software Center (Windows)

How to install software with Software Center

Customers that have a Windows system can take advantage of Software Center to download and install software managed by OIT.

About

Software Center is a component of the System Center Configuration Management Suite, which provides a scalable, efficient way to manage large groups of Windows computers. It's feature set allows the Office of Information Technology (OIT) the capability to preform software distribution in line with industry standards and best practices to meet the needs of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and Statewide Administration (SW).

Verifying that you have Software Center

Software Center is installed on all Windows UA domain computers at UAF and SW. If your computer is not on the UA domain, it will not have Software Center installed. The Software Center application is located at Start Menu > Microsoft System Center > Software Center. You can further confirm operation by opening Software Center and observing the installed and available software.

Verifying Domain membership

If you are not sure whether your computer is on the UA domain, see the video below for a walk through of verifying domain membership. If your computer is a member of the UA domain but does not have Software Center, please contact the OIT Support Center.

Joining the UA Domain

Please contact the OIT Support Center if you wish to have your computer joined to the UA Domain.
